LYLAC in the media

Things are different now.....

Treatment for cancer can affect both your physical and mental well-being.
From the moment of diagnosis, treatment is often number one on your agenda (surgery, radio therapy, chemotherapy). Life is mostly dedicated to treatments, hospital appointments, tests, waiting for results, coping with fear and uncertainties.
During treatment you may feel mentally strong (it helped you to cope with the treatment phase) but towards the end, most people feel physically exhausted because of the impact of treatments.

In this video you can listen to Linda who use the LYLAC support programme to move forward after cancer. She is sharing how cancer has impacted on her life....

Once dismissed from primary care, when it’s time to return to your "normal life", many people become overwhelmed by:

  • Feelings of abandonment,
  • The effects of treatment (fitness level, menopause, physical limitations,
    concentration problems),
  • Lack of information about this next phase,
  • Lack of support (your environment is expecting you to “get on with life as before”),
  • Emotional, social and relational difficulties (change of body image, self-esteem, impact of hormone treatment like loss of libido, mood swings),
  • Questions about returning to work,
  • Potential loss/reduction of income.

It’s often at this stage of transition (see also the graph on the right, click on the graph for more detail) when it really starts to sink in what has actually happened with all kind of strong emotional responses. At this moment you might start questioning your life; what’s next and how can I achieve this?

Your cancer diagnosis can serve as a major wake-up call and make you realise that time is no longer an infinite resource. Why not take some time to reflect on your life, learn ways to cope with those strong emotions, find out what is really important to you and how you want to live your life from here. Take a look at how LYLAC has helped others already in moving forward.....
It is a practical way to implement change to shift your life for the better.
